Jaylene Hernandez
Jaylene joined Healthy Within in June 2022. She graduated in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Art in Social Sciences from Cal State San Marcos. The primary discipline of her degree in Psychology and the two subdisciplines are Communications and Sociology.
Her professional goals are to obtain her Master’s in Clinical Psychology as well as a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology. From a young age, her father instilled in her that medicine is not always the immediate answer and that there are other amazing forms of potential treatment. She has always wanted to be a part of breaking the stigma of brain disorders and is excited she now has a hands-on opportunity to do so.
Having grown up with an aunt with schizophrenia, she has always had compassion for those living with brain disorders. She sees her aunt as a kind and intelligent individual. Because of her aunt, her passion for helping others has been prominent since a young age. She sees great value in Neurofeedback and its ability to rewire the brain for enhanced functioning. Having a background in Neuroscience at this point in her career will give her an opportunity to develop a true integrative perspective as she begins her graduate career in the next two years.
In her free time, Jaylene enjoys spending time with friends and family, going to the beach, and remaining active in order to maintain a healthy brain. Some of her favorite ways to remain active are strength training, running, and yoga. Jaylene also enjoys cooking and baking when she has the time to do so; she is a huge foodie.
