Steps for Reimbursement:
- Contact your physician or psychiatrist for a prescription for neurofeedback services for your specific brain health condition.
- Request a Suberbill from Healthy Within.
- Send these documents to your Health Insurance requesting Reimbursement.
- Prescription
- Superbills from HW
- Copy of the SB-855 law article
- Any relevant research articles. Ask Dr. K or one of the neurofeedback technicians for articles regarding your specific brain condition.
Superbills
Superbills will be provided at the beginning of the month. The superbills will have all the necessary information so you can submit for reimbursement. Payment is due at the time of service. Please know that we do not bill insurance companies directly.
Neurofeedback CPT code: 90876 or 90901
CPT code 90876 and 90901 are the Neurofeedback CPT codes and are used when services are billed. We will provide you and your family with Superbills with the required information, that you will then send to your insurance companies.
Brain Mapping (QEEG) CPT Code: 96020
CPT code 96020 is the QEEG Brain mapping CPT code and is used when the service is billed. We will provide you and/or your family with Superbills with the required information, that you will then send to your insurance companies.
SB- 855 Health Coverage
As of January 1, 2021, SB-855 went into effect. This law mandates health coverage for medically necessary mental health or substance use disorders in California. Health insurance is required to provide coverage for medically necessary treatment for mental health or substance use disorders under the same terms and conditions as medical conditions. This also would prohibit health insurance from limiting benefits or coverage to only short-term treatment, this includes health care services like prescriptions and intermediate services. This law may support you in advocating for reimbursement for your neurofeedback services. Learn more about SB-855
