Lava Jaqmaqchi
Lava joined the Healthy Within Team in June of 2023. She just recently graduated in May with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University, and is aspiring to specialize in the fields of Neuropsychology and Neuroscience.
She has always believed that every brain is unique in its perception of life and functioning within it as it impacts psychological and physiological health. She also has always believed that medication alone does not alleviate all that needs to be healed. Especially with personal knowledge and experience with conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Alzheimer’s in her family, she has been intrigued with how the brain alone has so much power and dominance in modifying many behaviors, emotions, and health conditions of people. She has been interested in different therapeutic approaches that help reduce the effect of conditions, and Neurofeedback is one of them! To be able to alter the activity of the brain in different, specific regions, for various health issues and diseases, is a life-lasting fascination she will continue to learn from and pass on to the following generations. Lava is also a strong advocate for mental health and de-stigmatizing factors that prevent people from fully getting the help they need to treat their quality of life and happiness. There should be no limitations or restrictions on raising awareness and treatments for mental health and psychological disorders. The brain is such a special and fragile part of humans to warmly embrace, protect and nurture, and she hopes to spread these ideals through Healthy Within along with her team to prosper and change the ways of the world!
In her free time, Lava loves to cook and bake! She also loves to draw, paint, sing and listen to Alternative and Indie Rock and Pop songs. Also, playing the piano, in which her favorite melody thus far is Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra, and The Hanging Tree from The Hunger Games. She also likes to watch crime and horror anime and shows. She loves reading books too! Her favorite book by far is Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, a very bittersweet, heart-warming story. Her favorite show is Anne of Green Gables, and she plans on reading its following novels!
